Rejoice, Drive Fans: The BFCA Just Saved Your Awards Hopes
Good news for those Drive fans who’ve spent the last three months wondering who they had to head-stomp to get some awards recognition around here: The Broadcast Film Critics Association has singlehandedly boosted the film back into the seasonal spotlight, nominating Drive for eight Critics Choice Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. That tied with The Help’s showing, and while it isn’t quite the haul enjoyed by The Artist and Hugo — which nabbed 11 nods apiece — it’s something! Be encouraged! Read on for more notes and the complete list of this year’s Critics Choice nominees. I know, I know: “But it’s just the Critics Choice Awards!” Fair enough, but as Steve Pond astutely notes this morning, the BFCA’s Best Picture category “generally coincides almost exactly with the Academy’s.” This year might be a slight exception with that whole 5-percent rule; nevertheless, finally finding Drive in the company of frontrunners like The Artist, The Descendants, War Horse and, apparently, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close has to brighten even the glummest countenance. Also of note: “Andrew” Serkis broke through Rise of the Planet of the Apes’s mo-cap barrier for a Supporting Actor nomination, Glenn Close was snubbed in favor of Elizabeth Olsen, and Margin Call, which has camped squarely on the awards bubble for last month or so, is nowhere to be found. Literally not one thing for J.C. Chandor’s acclaimed, buzzy debut. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo didn’t fare much better, earning recognition only for Best Score and Best Editing. Womp wommmmp. Fingers crossed for the Golden Globes! And now your complete list of nominees: BEST PICTURE The Artist The Descendants Drive Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close The Help Hugo Midnight in Paris Moneyball The Tree of Life War Horse BEST ACTOR George Clooney - The Descendants Leonardo DiCaprio - J. Police Arrest 4 Occupy L.A. Protesters After Midnight Evacuation Deadline Ignored
NY - Shares of Madison Square Garden Co. rose more than 10 percent in early Monday trading following an agreement in the NBA labor dispute. As of 10:25am ET, the stock of MSG was up 11.2 percent at $28.65. That gave the company, which is controlled by the Dolan family, a market value of $2.1 billion. Miller Tabak analyst David Joyce early Monday upgraded his rating on MSG from "neutral" to "buy" and lifted his shorter-term price target to $30 from $27, citing the apparent end of the labor dispute. And Morgan Stanley analyst Benjamin Swinburne, in a report entitled "Game On," wrote that "the likely end of the NBA lockout is an incremental positive for MSG shares - both in terms of near-term earnings and the removal of a major overhang." The benefit of the proposed 66 game season versus his prior assumption of 50 games "should have a modest positive impact on earnings per share," he added. Swinburne also commented on the NY Knicks, which MSG owns. "The new deal brings harsher luxury tax penalties, which should help to limit the payrolls of high-revenue teams such as the Knicks," he said. A labor agreement unveiled this weekend is tentative and still needs approvals, but would get the season started on Dec. 25. PHOTOS: Growing Up 'Harry Potter': Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint Though the franchise's first seven installments received only scattered Oscar nods in technical categories -- art direction/set direction (#1, #4, #7), cinematography, (6), costume design (#1), original score (#1, #3), and visual effects (#3, #7) -- the final one is considered to have a long but not impossible shot of cracking into the best picture category itself, perhaps as part of a Lord of the Rings-like tribute. (As you may recall, the third and final installment of that epic franchise was not only nominated for but won the best picture Oscar.) Attendees at today's event included the actors Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Rickman, who in all eight films played the title character and villainous Severus Snape, respectively; the director David Yates, who helmed the four most recent installments (Chris Columbus did #1 and #2, Alfonso Cuaron did #3, and Mike Newell did #4); and the producer David Heyman, who purchased the rights to J.K. Rowling's novels a decade ago and has guided the film franchise ever since. PHOTOS: 10 Biggest Book-to-Big Screen Adaptations of the Last 25 Years THR exclusively captured footage of remarks of gratitude that were made by Heyman and Yates to the attendees of the event. You can watch them at the top of the post or read them here... Heyman transcription... "Over the course of the, I guess, 10 years that we've been making these films, we became a family. You know, Dan, Alan -- so many of these people -- worked on all eight films, and it was just the most wonderful odyssey. And now that it's over, it's a little weird -- you know, that family's all gone its own way -- but those 10 years are filled with the most fantastic memories. And I've had the pleasure of working with some great directors, but none greater than David Yates, who really had the daunting challenge of not just directing one film but directing four films -- he's still on holiday, by the way. He also brought the series to a conclusion in such a perfect way that I really think did justice to Jo Rowling's magnificent books. The fact is that none of us would be here were it not for Jo, and I know that she feels really proud of this film -- she's a producer on it. She feels incredibly proud of it. And I thank you all for being here to support us and to support it." Yates transcription... "There's very little to add other than to say thank you for being here. It has been an incredible journey -- I've only been along for half of it, and it just feels strange coming back. We finished the movie about four months ago, and after the promotions and the premieres we felt we'd, kind of, left it behind. But it's wonderful to be back and just talking about it, because we are very proud of the last film. There was huge expectation and anticipation, and an enormous amount of pressure, because this material and these books mean so much to so many people around the world, and we carried that responsibility around with us. We did a DVD launch a week ago in Orlando, and we met many of these young fans, and they were all really wonderful, and the thing they kept saying to us was, 'Thank you,' which was really, really touching. So we left it behind in July, but we're coming back to see it again now. Thank you for being here and supporting the film. We very much appreciate it." Grateful Dead Movie: Finally Happening?
The Grateful Dead are among numerous legendary rock groups -- Introduced Zeppelin as well as the Beatles also belong in this category -- whose music is almost impossible to license in the film. Unless of course obviously there is a massive budget to get on music rights (cough, Cameron Crowe), the prospect of using 'Hey Jude' or 'Misty Mountain Hop' within your movie are really low. However, the Grateful Dead might no more have this problem. According to Deadline, ICM remains given utilisation of the band's catalog and can produce a feature film built around their music. ICM's Bruce Kaufman, who did so on while using Beatles for 'Across the planet,A will probably be heading within the project. So, an 'Across the Universe' for Grateful Dead music -- that could be good or bad news, according to everything you considered the film. Some Beatles fans loved the incorporation of Great Four music in to a feature film, others think it is cheesy and unwatchable. Really, as extended simply because they include 'Sugar Magnolia' in this movie, we won't complain. [via Deadline] Follow Moviefone on Twitter Like Moviefone on Facebook

Mac Burns debuts atop album chart
Rapper Mac Miller's "Blue Slide Park" blew to the national music chart at No. 1 a week ago, marking the very first time an indie rap album has capped their email list in greater than a decade . 5. Miller's Rostrum Records release, handled by Universal Music Group's indie arm Fontana and digital distributor INgrooves, moved 144,000 models, based on Nielsen SoundScan data for that week ended November. 13. It is the first full-length through the Pittsburgh artist, whose mixtapes and single "Jesse Trump" have won him a sizable fanbase. Snoop Dogg's 1995 set "Dogg Food" was the final indie rap set to achieve the pinnacle. Digital side paid for for many of Miller's first-week tally: UMG stated 76% from the release's sales came via online merchants. Using the holidays nearly here, Michael Buble's "Christmas" (Warner Bros.) rose six positions to No. 2, moving 123,000 (a 38% gain). Two familiar franchises settled in to the top 5. The Capitol-distributed 40th edition of "Now That Is What I Call Music" first showed at No. 3 having a 119,000-unit bow, as the soundtrack for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Beginning -- Part 1" showed up at No. 4, moving 105,000 as they are. Apparently impervious towards the development of digital track sales, the "Now" series has placed all 40 of their hit-producing volumes within the top ten because the series -- inspired with a like-named U.K. package -- managed to get to those shores in 1998. Current edition has been promoted in a single- and 2-disc versions. The Chop Shop/Atlantic "Twilight" package, which prefaced the week's opening from the 4th and penultimate installment of Summit Entertainment's vampire romance, was soft in comparison with other franchise debuts. Last year's "Eclipse" showed up at No. 2 having a first-week score of 146,000 the prior two "Twilight" soundtracks arrived towards the top of the chart. Adele's "21" (Columbia) sitting at No. 5, adding 104,000 more models (off just 3%) to the 4.4 million sales total. Two other debuts arrived at the very best 10 now. Romeo Santos' "Formula Vol. 1" (The new sony Music Latin) joined at No. 9 having a 62,000-unit frame it is the Dominican-American vocalist's first top-10 release. Operatic pop unit Il Divo's "Wicked Game" (Syco/Columbia) grew to become the U.K. act's fifth U.S. top-10 set, relocating at No. 10 with 61,000 moved. The week's top holdovers incorporated Justin Bieber's "Underneath the Mistletoe" (No. 6, 97,000 offered, off 54%), Susan Boyle's "Anyone to Keep An Eye On Me" (No. 7, 72,000, lower 46%) and Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" (No. 8, 70,000, off 32%). Album sales, already cooking with five albums topping 100,000 a week ago, should still roar, as albums by Drake, Nickelback and Daughtry along with a new "Glee" Christmas album all arrived at stores now. They just finally took it off IMDB, Jake told Access Hollywood during a break from filming his FOX hit comedy series of the erroneous birth year 1997 previously listed on the movie website a date which prompted concern from a slew of young women on Twitter. I just thought it was so funny that all these 16-year-old girls who watch New Girl they, for a moment, thought that weird guy with the beard was like, 14, he continued, with a laugh. My whole career would be so much more interesting if I was 14 and looked and acted the way I act. Even without being the teenage weird guy with the beard, AccessHollywood.coms newest Rising Star has had more than an interesting lead up to his charming break out role as Nick, New Girls heartbroken underdog and the love interest-on-the-way for Zooey Deschanels Jess. But getting there was no easy feat for the youngest child of a single mom, who fed and clothed her brood by running what Jake called, kind of junk shops throughout Chicago, and making stained glass windows for clients. With an artist for a mom, a teenage Jake fell hard the arts too, but his passion went in a different direction the improvisational comedy stage at a famed Chicago club. Second City used to do a free improv show late at night, and when I was in early high school, thats when [Chris] Farley was there and Tina Fey was there, so we used to be able to go and watch these greats, he recalled fondly. I knew thats what I wanted, I just didnt know the path to get there, he added of the early dream. I always wanted to perform and act, it just seemed like [as big of a dream as], It would be really fun to go to the moon one day. Unsure of his route, Jake headed West, well, further Midwest, to the University of Iowa. During his two years as a Hawkeye, just 230-odd miles from Chicago, Jake began his path to the moon after penning a primate-inspired theater work. I wrote a play about a man who works at a gorilla house, and his main job is to care for the old celebrity gorilla. When that gorilla dies, his life kind of falls apart and his wife and friends are really weirded out by the fact that hes this devastated by a gorilla dying, Jake explained. I wrote this play when I was at Iowa just because it made me laugh, and I sent it to NYU and I got into Tisch for dramatic writing. Continuing his craft of writing in NY City, the early 20-something hit the stage too, performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade (with Casey Wilson of Happy Endings), an experience that eventually helped lead him finally to Hollywood. With the performing bug a full-blown virus, Jake quickly hit the stage at LAs Second City, with Eric Edelstein, for their self-penned sketch comedy, This Is My Friend, and the internet came calling too as he joined the likes of Michael Cera in Derek Waters Drunk History (see Jake duel Michael Cera HERE:, and Derek & Simon, a web series featuring Big Bang Theorys Simon Helberg. From there, doors started to open, landing the talented funnyman roles on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Tim Roths Lie To Me and films like Russell Brands Get Him To The Greek, and the Ashton Kutcher vehicle, No Strings Attached, written by New Girl creator Liz Meriwether. Shes so good and she works so hard and when somebody cares that much at the top, it just makes everybodys job so much easier, Jake said of Liz, the woman who is now his full time boss. And that ease will continue on, as New Girl was picked up for a full series run by FOX. Random people will walk by and Ill get a point and theyll say, Hey man, New Girl, and Ill go, Yeah. And theyll go, Nice! he laughed, recounting to Access how his life is starting to change. It feels like Im high-fiving a stranger. With more roles in the just-released A Very Harold & Kumar 3-D Christmas and the 2012-due 21 Jump Street reboot, the journey is only getting better, something Jake said is fun too for his wife, artist Erin Payne. When we met, I think I had 400 dollars to my name and a disgusting moustache I was trying to grow. So for her, its just really fun, he said. I think shes been enjoying the ride. Weekend Forecast: Clooney and Gosling's Ides of March Contend With Jackman's Real Steel
With September’s box office duelers on their way out, it’s time we clear space for two new contenders to duke it out for the moviegoing public’s vote. But try as he might, does George Clooney have what it takes to unseat Hugh Jackman’s crowd-pleasing sci-fi actioner, the probable weekend victor? He does have Ryan Gosling on his ticket. Not too shabby. Onward, to the polls! It’s your Weekend Forecast. NATIONAL FORECAST Real Steel: The good news for Shawn Levy’s (Night at the Museum) robot boxing pic — besides the fact that everyone loves star Hugh Jackman — is that while they’re pretty much only up against the one-two punch of George Clooney and Ryan Gosling, the dreamboat two-fer political thriller comes in as a comparably niche property. Clooney (who co-stars and directed) will get the blue state vote (not to mention the sympathies and minds of Oscar-watchers), but on the other hand, everyone loves robots! Especially the ones that tug at heartstrings with their giant, mechanical, Hugh Jackman-loving android mugs. Besides, everyone’s already seen The Lion King 3D and Dolphin Tale. Families, get thee ringside. FORECAST: $28 million. Ides of March: That’s not to say you should count out Clooney’s crackling thriller, adapted from the play Farragut North. For starters, everyone might love Jackman, but everyone mad crushes on Ryan Gosling. And the Goose is in fine form here as a young, idealistic press secretary who finds his allegiances tested during a particularly stressful primary campaign. Ides might struggle to hit its numbers in showing in less than two-thirds of Real Steel’s theater count, but should perform on par with other smaller Clooney projects. FORECAST: $10.2 million. REGIONAL OUTLOOK Tom Six’s first Human Centipede film capitalized on its horrific word of mouth to the tune of a $12.4M opening last year, and on a single screen, at that, and despite poor reviews - maybe even because of the ones lambasting its depraved one-upmanship - hardcore horror hounds will take the challenge of squirming through the sequel. Elsewhere, Variance Films opens Jackie Chan’s 100th film, the historical pic 1911, in select niche markets, while Emilio Estevez debuts his directorial effort The Way and the Weinstein Co.’s Dirty Girl attempts to draw the indie vote. Let’s hope they come up with a last-minute marketing ploy better than this.

New Academy Museum Could Feature Oscar on its Historic Facade
Double the size and half the fundraising burden.our editor recommendsMotion Picture Academy Takes Step to Create Museum in Former May Co. Department StoreInside the Oscar Museum's Past Troubles and Uncertain Future Those are the rough metrics of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' plan to open a museum in the former May Co. building on the Los Angeles County Museum of Art campus -- instead of at a Hollywood property on which the organization had planned to build a $400 million project. The museum could open in as little as three years -- and it might even include an image of Oscar etched on the building's distinctive gold cylinder. It would be operated by AMPAS under a long-term lease agreement with LACMA, according to Academy president Tom Sherak, who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. "The fact that we don't have this in L.A. -- the home of the motion picture -- we need to change that," he said. STORY:Inside the Oscar Museum's Past Troubles and Uncertain Future The Academy's board of governors on Tuesday night joined their LACMA counterparts by agreeing to sign a memorandum of understanding to work in good faith to establish a movie museum in the 300,000-square-foot former department store building, which is located at 6067 Wilshire Blvd. on the western edge of the LACMA campus in the Miracle Mile district. The memo opens the door for the two organizations to discuss a future contract and for the Academy, which generates the vast majority of its revenue from the sale of broadcast rights to the Oscars show,to develop fundraising plans. But several questions remain: Sherak did not offer specifics on the terms or length of the lease the Academy would sign with LACMA, except to say, "I won't be around by the time this lease is finished." And though he did not divulge the estimated cost of the project -- which could take as long as five years to complete -- Sherak said AMPAS "will only have to raise half of what we needed to raise" for the now-scuttled Hollywood museum development on Vine Street. "We are starting the fundraising campaign now and that will determine how fast this building goes up," said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. AMPAS would retain autonomy over all aspects of the museum, while relying on LACMA's expertise in museum management and construction, Hudson said. The former department store, built in the Streamline Moderne style, opened in 1939; LACMA acquired it in 1994 and renamed it LACMA West. The May Co. structure is known for the gold cylinder that makes up a portion of its facade, which has been designated historic by the city's Cultural Heritage Commission. LACMA CEO Michael Govan said that there have been discussions regarding the possibility of incorporating the iconic Oscar statuette into the cylindrical part of the building's facade. "It was just screaming to be an Oscar," said Govan, adding that there are ways to alter that portion of the building "that would be consistent with its historical designation." According to the Los Angeles Conservancy, the city's Office of Historic Resources would review any proposed changes to the cylinder. STORY: Motion Picture Academy Takes Step to Create Museum in Former May Co. Department Store Despite its new direction, the Academy still plans to open exhibition space at the Vine Street property that it once envisioned as the home of a movie museum, though its long-term plans for the property are unclear. "The one thing we are not going to do -- the Academy will not do and the board will not let it be done -- we are not going to abandon that site," Sherak said. But the new LACMA plan marks a major shift in AMPAS' previous movie museum efforts and is a blow to Hollywood stakeholders who had hoped a movie museum would help in the continued revitalization of the area. The Academy had long planned to build a 144,000-square-foot development on Hollywood property it began acquiring in 2005 at the cost of up to $50 million. French architect Christian de Portzamparcdesigned a sleek, modern edifice, but just before a significant fundraising campaign would have begun, the project was derailed by the economic collapse that began in earnest in fall 2008. The 3.5-acre site, which is located across from ArcLight Cinemas on Vine, has sat vacant for a handful of years; in August area stakeholders told THR it had become an eyesore. Sherak said that the Academystill plans to create an exhibition space in one of the buildings at the site and there has been discussion about hosting occasional outdoor screenings. The Academy has begun razing some structures and cleaning up the property, which is adjacent to its Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study. "I'm glad to see the museum is moving forward and that AMPAS is firmly committed to investing in and developing its Hollywood property near Sunset [Boulevard] and Vine. The entertainment industry has long been crucial to our local economy and played a significant role in our global culture," Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti said. "AMPAS' new resources will celebrate that history and bring it to life for future generations." But Sherak said he wasn't sure how the property would be used once the movie museum opens, though he suggested that potential features such as an outdoor theater could remain in use once the museum opens. "Why would that have to go away if we want to keep it? It doesn't have to go away. So there is a lot of planning that needs to be done," he said. STORY: Dawn Hudson: New Job as Academy CEO Offers 'Global Platform' for Her Love of Film Sherak said that discussions with LACMA began informally in spring 2010, and were initially spearheaded by former Academy president Sid Ganis, who met with Govan and discussed the need for an AMPAS museum. "We talked about how sad it was that this hadn't quite pulled itself together yet," Govan said. Talks became more serious once Hudson was named the new CEO of the Academy in April. Sherak said that at a June 1 AMPAS board of governors meeting, Hudson, former head of Film Independent, homed in on the potential project. "All of the sudden it was like an arrow to the bull's-eye. Next thing I know, Michael and she were talking and we had a committee put together," Sherak said. The LACMA campus has been considerably transformed during the last half-decade with the addition of two new buildings. In 2008, the museum opened the Broad Contemporary Art Museum and last year the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion threw open its doors. As part of a three-phase plan, the May Co. building was to have also been remodeled. However, Govan said that Metropolitan Transportation Authority's plan to build the Westside Subway Extension, which would include a stop at the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax, caused LACMA to rethink its plan. "We paused and said, 'that is a really important building and it really ought to have something fantastic in it,'" Govan said. "It needed to be a destination in it of itself. This will become again, as it was, one of the most famous buildings in Los Angeles. We are happy to move our plans around to other spaces." The prospective museum is the strongest signal to date that LACMA intends to strengthen its connections to the movie business. Earlier this year LACMA announced that it would reboot its film-screening program this fall. It has formed a partnership with Film Independent, the group behind the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, and has hired film critic Elvis Mitchell as curator. STORY: Academy Taps Dawn Hudson, Ric Robertson to Replace Bruce Davis "LACMA is an eclectic museum with lots of collections in lots of different areas -- film seems like a slam dunk," said Terry Semel, co-chair of the LACMA board of trustees and former chairman of Warner Bros. The museum's board now features a slew of entertainment business players, including Willow Bay, Brian Grazer, Michael Lynton, Carole Bayer Sager, Barbra Streisand and Steve Tisch. And on Monday it was announced that CAA partner Bryan Lourd is joining the 64-member board. Also, in September, LACMA announced that its inaugural Art + Film Gala -- slated to be held Nov. 5 -- will honor Clint Eastwood and conceptual artist John Baldessari. The gala is intended in part to raise funds to support LACMA's "initiative to make film more central to the museum's curatorial programming," the museum said in a press release. Rachelle Lefervre on 'Abduction,' Possible Sequels, and Why 'Breaking Dawn' is His Favorite 'Twilight' Yet
Snark all that's necessary about 'Twilight,' its group of followers and it is youthful stars, however the film series has turned into a cultural phenomenon during the last 5 years. Thank heavens then -- by all accounts -- Billy Burke, Taylor Lautner and Rachelle Lefervre can handle the immense fame that accompany the 'Twilight' territory. Lautner is all of the the trio to branch out by himself -- and that he achieves this with gusto within the new action thriller 'Abduction.' May be the soon-to-be erstwhile Edwards Friend Jacob nervous about his first job like a leading guy? "I'd be laying basically stated I did not feel any pressure whatsoever," Lautner told Moviefone within an interview a week ago. "However ,, at this time, excitement is overriding some of that. I simply can't watch for individuals to view it, and It's surprising it's finally here." What's here's 'Abduction,' a movie that finds Lautner starring as Nathan, a Pittsburgh-area senior high school student who discovers his parents aren't who he thought, which shady government agents on sides from the law want him. Away from home having a lengthy-time crush (Lily Collins), Nathan attempts to stay alive and expose the reality -- and showcase some fancy Parkour moves on the way. Lautner spoke to Moviefone about why he chose 'Aduction' as his first starring role, whether he'd be lower for any follow up, and just how 'Breaking Dawn' is his favorite 'Twilight' movie. Hello, Taylor. [Deep voice] Thanks for visiting Moviefone! '! What is the title from the movie you need to see. 'Abduction!' Well performed. Let us reach 'Abduction': Even getting seen the trailers, I wasn't ready for how physical the role was for you personally. Was that certain of what came you to definitely the script initially? It certainly was. There have been several things that came me for this role. I understood it might be challenging throughout. Clearly, physically, but even psychologically. My character experiences a lot within this movie. So simply to have the ability to dive into his footwear and go through the journey he continues was quite incredible for me personally being an actor. That one extended me being an actor, a lot more than I have have you been extended before. Which was thrilling. Was lots of that stuff within the script, or did director John Singleton and film writer Rob Christensen adjust the script to make the most of your fighting techinques background? There is a great deal put in. There have been a couple of things within the script -- like a few of the major fight moments. But, I do not think the boxing scene is at the initial script. Everything in the baseball stadium, which was really just improv. We've got there at the time -- or, whenever we scouted the place -- we had the large giant glass awning factor which i slide lower. We are like, "We gotta learn how to have that within the movie." We had each one of these excellent achievements that will let me perform some Parkour. My way through the baseball stadium really was just improv at the time. That live training scene with Jason Isaacs is just one of the first large moments and quite brutal. I'd never boxed before movie, to ensure that was new for me personally. And That I desired to seem like I understood things i was doing. So, three several weeks before I visited Pittsburgh to start rehearsals, I acquired a boxing trainer in L.A. and began practicing 5 days per week. It had been really intense -- only the learning general, for boxing. Whenever we arrived, Jason and that i began choreography onto it immediately. It is a pretty lengthy fight, and it is very specific and when among us are off by one punch a treadmill block, we are getting smacked hard. It needed lots of preparation. Without a doubt. I had been struck with how director John Singleton shot that in lengthy shots using the concentrate on you and also Jason. It's clearly you fighting and adds lots of immediacy and closeness, which isn't that which you frequently see within the action genre. [Action films] are frequently very chop up and incredibly stylized. We desired to get this to movie feel just as real so that as grounded as you possibly can. This is exactly why I truly desired to perform a most of my stunts. You are able to tell. You are able to tell when it is chop up along with a little fake searching. The boxing scene looks real. Your dream scene within the train just looks brutal. Like me which guy were just doing the work. That was fun. (Laughs) I imagine you'd a pile of scripts to select from for the first large leading guy role, publish-'Twilight.' What separated 'Abduction' in the relaxation from the pack? Mainly this character's journey. I needed to challenge myself to different things, something which I've not done before. It was just that. I fell deeply in love with the storyline and also the journey this character continues as soon as I heard the concept. When I saw the script, I had been exactly that a lot more excited. I had been like, "Okay. This really is destined to be challenging for me personally being an actor. It is likely to stretch me, but it is also likely to be a lot of fun to create.Inch It appears as if you had an enjoyable experience. Wouldn't it cause you to more inclined to star inside a follow up? Lionsgate has already been speaking about creating mtss is a franchise within the vein from the 'Bourne' movies. I am talking about, yeah. It appears like everything could [possess a follow up] nowadays. I am just attempting to go one movie at any given time and concentrate on 'Abduction' making the best movie possible. And we'll see after that. But at this time, my focus is 'Abduction.' Your focus is 'Abduction,' and you're simply the main focus of 'Abduction.' You are in the forefront within the marketing, your title is over the title -- this differs from 'Twilight' in which you have other castmates and also the built-in fan-base. Are you currently beginning to obtain nervous? I'd be laying basically stated I did not feel any pressure whatsoever. However ,, at this time, excitement is overriding some of that. I seem like I have been awaiting such a long time for individuals to determine this movie. And I am -- all of us are extremely happy with it. I simply can't watch for individuals to view it, and It's surprising it's finally here. At this time, I am happy with it, I understand we gave everything we now have, and I am excited for that world to determine it. 'Abduction' feels as though a throwback to 1980s and 1990's action films. Have there been any stars you'd in your mind whenever you made the decision to sign up? Absolutely. I have always researched to Tom Cruise being an actor. His occupation, his options, his option to constantly challenge themself. You appear Cruise's action movies -- and also the same goes with Matt Damon and Harrison Ford -- you appear at their action movies and they are not only an action movie. They are playing figures who undergo an amazing arc, which are very challenging on their behalf, after which action just surrounds the film and causes it to be much more exciting. This is exactly why I had been so drawn to 'Abduction.' It's not only an action movie. Are these the kinds of movies you need to make moving forward? Let me have the ability to challenge myself to a multitude of roles and genres. Basically possess the chance to achieve that, it might be an aspiration become a reality for me personally. I'd a lot of fun for 'Abduction,' however, continue, I am certainly searching for different things. Talking about which: the brand new trailer for 'Breaking Dawn' has gone out, also it looks greatly not the same as the prior three films. Understanding the story and also the books, was this final chapter one you had been searching toward? No, I wasn't. We honestly have a lot fun making the films we enjoy yourself together. The film, particularly, is extremely diverse from the others. 'Breaking Beginning Part 1' has challenged me being an actor a lot more than I ever happen to be before. I can not watch for individuals to begin to see the movie. For me personally, it's undoubtedly the very best one. Do you consider that's due to the storyline within the book or due to Bill Condon's pointing? I believe it's both. It is extremely different. It almost feels as though an entirely different series. It is extremely various and it enables the figures to alter. You actually see all of the figures inside a different light than you have ever seen them before. It would be considered a challenging project for any director who required about this movie, but I must say: Bill Condon could not did a more satisfactory job on set as well as in publish-production. The film is amazing. He's one incredible director. Most franchise stars most likely feel fatigued and able to move ahead after playing exactly the same character for such a long time, but that does not appear to be along with you. It appears like you are almost melancholy. Yeah, I certainly am. All of us were. We have been playing these figures for 4 years now and that we feel so near to them and we have become so close with one another, also it certainly was emotional whenever we finished.
