Did Anyone Laugh At Carrie In Steven King's Carrie?

I watched the movie for the first time and laughed at Carrie in the
shower and when she turned down prom and during the prom scene at the
end. Her crazy fundie mom was funny too.

I especially laughed at the part where she's remembering "they're all
gonna laugh at you." and thinking "why does she even care?"

Carrie takes "getting offended" to such an extreme that it's funny and
it reminded me not to be offended of the things people say. At the
same time I feel sorry for her, because given the same life
circumstances I don't know if I'd even had made it that far.
