just asking for some things to look for, or some other
interpretations.
Anyways, I'm writing a paper for a class in which we compare classic
literature to the films they have inspired. Not necessarily film
adaptations of books, but rather books that have influenced films, or
are modern day re-tellings.
Anybody who has seen Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and also read the
book Moby Dick has probably seen many similarities, and the theme of
Moby Dick is referenced throughout. From seeing that Khan has a copy
of the book in his ship, to quoting the book with his final breath. I
realize in the film that Khan represents Captain Ahab (disregarding
his crew in his single-minded pursuit of revenge), and Kirk (or maybe
the entire Enterprise) is the White Whale.
Can anybody think of any specific scenes I should look into? Either
from the book or the film. Other than the obvious general parallels,
are there any other allusions to the classic novel? I have seen the
Star Trek movie several times, but I have to go back and read the book
for the assignment, since it's been a while since I last read it. As
it stands I only have the general examples and the few quotes, not
enough for the paper. I can pick another film/book, but this seems
like a good place to start. I would just like some specific examples
to look out for, or some other themes they share that I should keep in
mind, other than the revenge aspect that is.
Star Dot, clearly you didn't read the question. I didn't ask you to
pick one.
